Littles
Ages 2 to 20 months
Group dances allow for social interaction with other babies to build awareness. Lessons include activities such as a special greeting, loving touch, warm-up exercises, rocking to lullabies, movement to rhythmic text, and relaxing with books. Instruments used for exploration are safe for the mouth and cleaned after each use. Simplified American Sign Language is taught and used as a communication tool to aid the development of speech.
Movers
Ages 1 ½ to 3 ½ years
Each lesson is balanced with sitting and movement activities that are structured for participation with the aid of an adult or alone as he/she becomes confident. Skills presented and reinforced include gross/fine motor movements, focused listening, understanding / following directions, and self-control. A variety of instruments are introduced for little hands to explore. Repetition is practiced regularly for emotional security and memory recall. Special features include sound of the day, cuddle time and simple circle dances.
Choosers
Ages 3 to 6
Through the use of pretend play and storytelling, important skills are refined such as balance, problem solving, social interaction, decision making, working with partners, and coordination. Various props aid in traditional objectives such as identifying numbers, recognizing colors, reinforcing the alphabet, etc. Mallets are added to more complex instruments. Initially, adults may choose to participate for the entire class to assist their child in transitioning to class without them. Each lesson offers choices for child-directed movements and ideas and that make every class as unique as each child.
Combo
Multiple children ages 2 months plus
This is a class allows the whole family to experience music together. Older children shine as they model for their younger siblings. Each child has an opportunity to build skills at his/her own pace. Each lesson is inclusive of all age groups. Unique and safe instruments are used to enhance learning. A favorite activity is the family band time which features big band and jazz music along with a multitude of instrument choices to discover and share.
